Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Engineer to join MTU Japan, supporting the growth of new SJP business within the Mining and Power Generation segments.

This role is critical in ensuring customers and service partners receive high-quality technical support in line with MTU standards. The Service Engineer will act as a key technical interface between Rolls-Royce Power Systems, customers, OEMs, and service partners, helping to build trust, ensure service excellence, and secure future business opportunities in Japan.

This position is a replacement role to support evolving SJP business requirements, ensuring the right skill set and mindset are in place to meet customer expectations.


What you will be doing:

  • Provide technical advisory support to customers, OEMs, and service partners on maintenance and repair activities in accordance with MTU standards.
  • Support and coordinate MTU’s service partner network across Japan, ensuring consistent service quality and capability.
  • Perform and support field service activities, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of MTU engines and related equipment at customer sites.
  • Advise customers on best practices to achieve optimal engine performance, reliability, and lifecycle value.
  • Lead and coordinate service-related activities to support new SJP business in Mining and Power Generation sectors.
  • Apply and manage Warranty and Goodwill cases through MTU systems, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
  • Act as a technical escalation point, supporting service partners in troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to support customer satisfaction and business growth.

Position requirements:

  • Engineering background with strong technical understanding of engine mechanics and related systems.
  • 4 to 5 years of relevant service engineering or technical support experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise customers and service partners on maintenance and repair activities.
  • Familiarity with the industrial or off-highway market in Japan, preferably within power generation or mining sectors.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, service partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Native-level Japanese and strong English proficiency are mandatory to support Japanese customers and global stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as required to support field service activities.
